Vincent van Gogh - genius appreciated after death

Vincent van Gogh, born in 1853 in the Dutch town of Zundert, is now one of the most recognizable and valued artists in the world. His path to greatness, however, was marked by suffering, misunderstanding, and poverty. Initially, van Gogh worked as an art dealer, then tried to become a pastor, and finally, at the age of 27, devoted himself to painting. The artist's early works were characterized by dark, gloomy colors and realistic depictions of peasant life. It was only after moving to Paris in 1886 and encountering the Impressionists that his color palette gradually brightened, and his style became more expressive and unconventional. Despite his enormous talent and diligence, during his lifetime van Gogh sold only one painting - "The Red Vineyard at Arles." He lived in extreme poverty, suffered from mental disorders, and was hospitalized multiple times. He died tragically in 1890 at the age of only 37, leaving behind an impressive legacy of nearly 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings, created over just a decade of intense creative work. His works were appreciated only after his death, and are now considered fundamental to the development of modern art and fetch astronomical prices at auctions.

Vincent van Gogh's most famous paintings in our poster collection

The PIXARTT collection includes reproductions of Vincent van Gogh's most famous and valued works. "The Starry Night" is probably the most popular painting by the Dutch artist, painted during his stay at the psychiatric hospital in Saint-Rémy in 1889. The swirling sky, starry firmament, and expressive brush strokes make this work one of the most important in art history. A reproduction of "The Starry Night" on a poster will be an exceptional decoration for any interior, introducing a touch of mystery and artistic genius. The "Sunflowers" series represents another masterpiece that you can have in your collection thanks to our posters. Van Gogh painted several versions of this motif, depicting sunflowers at different stages of life - from full bloom to withering. These intensely yellow, orange, and brown compositions were mainly created in Arles, France, where the artist dreamed of establishing an artistic colony. Posters with reproductions of "Sunflowers" will perfectly illuminate any room and introduce a warm, sunny atmosphere. "Almond Blossom" is a special work in van Gogh's oeuvre. The painting was created in 1890 as a gift for the birth of his brother Theo's son. Inspired by Japanese graphics, it depicts delicate, white almond blossoms against a blue sky. For the artist, it was a symbol of hope, rebirth, and new life. A poster with this motif will be an excellent choice for a bedroom, children's room, or study, bringing peace and optimism to the interior.
